I am by nature a maker. The act of
making art is about challenging myself as a philosopher, engineer,
and designer to weave together three driving areas of focus. The
first is exploring and reflecting on human experiences in the
digitally connected age. Second is the principle that art can and
should create new technologies, and thus imagine future technologies.
Third is the need to attain simplicity in all aspects. These three
principles serve as the foundation for all my work.

Benjamin Farahmand, born to Iranians in
Germany, is trained as an aerospace engineer, philosopher, and social
designer. His artistic focus is the human experience in the digital
age. He makes art that interacts with the observer, seamlessly combining the physical world
with the digital to discover new human behaviors and experiences. The
motivation to study human behavior is partially anthropological as
it explores the question: why do people do what they do, and as a
corollary, how do public and private spaces influence people's
behaviors? His work has been shown in galleries in Philadelphia, the
internet, and blogs. In his day-to-day life, he works as a social
designer and entrepreneur.
